Oban Winter Festival 2025-Dream Life Sculptures Workshop
Oban Dream Life Sculpture Dream Life was Inspired By My Love Of quaint little seaside villages, but more than that was inspired by creating our own dream life in the present moment.
We are not taught this at school or anywhere and so its creativity is extremely valuable to create your life your dream life through art which, then in turn assists you create and speak your dreams and life into existence .
Recently I was asked to do a course at a Melford Village and I was blown away myself as an artist as to how well it went. The feedback too, as many were immersed in their creating. All I simply did was say follow your own creativity and well they did as you can see in the pictures of all their individual creativity.
Peace, calm, tranquility, self expression, fun and the spark of joy.
So, I was recently asked by a lovely kind lady named Pamela, who saw my fairy art in an Oban shop window and contacted me for a chat.
To cut a long story short, she has found a venue with Waterstones Oban to bring my Art workshop to The Oban Winter Festival. It will take place on the 15th November 2025.
The first workshop will take place at 10am, and the second course at 12.30 pm at Waterstones, Oban ,for age 8 years and above including adults if you wish to join ,all children to be accompanied by an adult ,if accompanying the child you do not pay only if your partaking in the course (DO NOT Wear Best Clothes as we are using paint and glue).

Art Community TurnStyle Your Life around to a style that suits came about through my own journey of Art ,if your new to this website feel free to check out the about Turnstyle McQs .
It started 7 years ago a walk along the beach in Blackpool and bumped into driftwood and the sheer joy of the beach and how this has shaped my way of life and how this too may shape your own unique journey of this wonderful life .
Many wonderful and exciting experiences started to happen very quickly along my art path exhibitions and so forth but this as i have come to realise more recently is about how our path can assist another especially since it has helped me too always great to share your experience you never know who you may inspire to pick up a painbrush and away they go ,again i have learned it was always about us and how we grow with whatever we do in life ,and no suprise it has shaped mine in many ways .
How?
My Godself realised has shown me my early beginnings in snippets of visions of how far i have grown within ,i was frightened of being seen and doing live videos ,now im creating content all over the place ,its assisted with confidence to be myself and be my authentic me ,it took me down a spiritual path of my own having always been spiritual and well i believe its us first and foremost ,it has shaped my body within more so lets say i am the light the gift that keeps on giving.
With that in mind the whole essence of being around nature i came to realise gives us a wealth of feeling good about ourselves which creates our overhaul of beingness .
I got into exhibitions very quickly and well my currators back in Blackpool and artist community became family so much so they assisted many of us artists in Blackpool running alongside The Hive in Blackpool which is owned by John and David who are amazing wonderful souls who opened up there huge coffee house to house and assist many artists to share there own unique expression through art which in turn creates confidence in artists and ever more love for what they do ,its a community of love, togetherness, connectedness, thriving for one another ,encouragement to go after your dreams whether that be courses ,blog, public speaking videography ,artist, sculpture, photographer and encouragement to go big and after your dreams some do some dont but they always do .
why am i writnt this ? well i realised the huge impact this created for not only my life but also how it created inspiration for all us artists of that time and space and really how i can bring this to others myself and own unique Turnstyle because it really has Turnstyle my life around ,art is my friend, my joy , my love , my companion ,and colourful expression and well i know how valuble this has been for me and with all my heart want to create for others too ,to give back to give to others there freedom through art through life through learning teaching and a platform for others to grow as i have too by beautiful souls assisting me to assisting others on there journey of self discovery and self expression through art ,what better way than to give encouragement to another ,and so i have been kindly gifted a beautiful space for however the duration to open as an art space to share my art techniques ,courses, but to skillshare with others to bringing other artists ,poets, musicians together in a shared love of expression and heArT connection .
I live On Easdale Island near Oban in Scotland so this will be held at Katya Embroidery at far end of Oban opposite the old cinema ,it will be open every Sunday from 11-3pm for courses to begin with and togetherness feel free to pop in for a brew and cake .
And we get to create the new way in the now moment bringing artists creators together and exchanging our wonderful self expression and divine essence together in unity .
Im super excited and know this is only the beginnings of a huge worldwide empire of us all expressing our own authentic self through our own creator essence .

Crystals
Crystals oh the sheer joy of crystals ! i rememeber as a young self how whenever i went to any caves or places like were there are stalagtites and stalagmites the ones you get to walk through to see on a day out with family them little tiny gift shops were everything glitters like glass the elemental array of nature ,well i used to always use my pocket money in them beautiful visits .
Reason i share this is well on and off over the past i would say 7 years i have been on a self discovery i guess it was the beginning of art and my eternal love for all things nature .
A jaunt across the beach 7 years ago led me to my beautiful driftwood and more importantly the benefits of nature and how it makes us feel ,so its hardly suprising that well on my journey i rediscover also the love of rocks pebbles and crystals which are the same really in different forms .
With this in my heart my universe reminded me of my beginnings of crystals my first awe at inside caves and the colours and rock formations ,crystals which are rocks however i feel that makes them less than of which they are not of course magnificient and well crystals are mined in many a places all over the world cut cleaned and shaped either sculptured into different sculptural pieces or natural then tumbled into little gem like ones ,the sculptures are an art in itself needless to say how they mine and find there beautiful treasure i would love to wouldn’t you ?
so here i am on another adventure to assist others on there own self discovery through the love of crystals and how they benefit our own single unique journeys of our lives ,i have a collection some big some small and i know how much they have assisted me even now ,there not a replacement to your inner healing or wealthing as i like to call it but more of a beautiful colourful friend like sweeties especially as they remind me of the feeling of sweetie shops when you see them all together thats why i say Joy of Joys !
I have been sourcing out pure and ones that are real as there are the odd rogue one that isn’t i have found in my own collection ,and well its rather annoying when you look forward to its magic and theres none because its not real ,anyway to be transparent myself i have asked my own internal guidance or intuition as some say , so without furthur ado i have found some decent wholesale and bingo i have purchased sodalite, american turquoise, peruvian opal, obsideon, petrified wood,aventurine, prehnite, carnelean and labradorite which are glorious and well sourced out real pure copper which they will be hand wired by my heart wands hands with my heart vibration running through ,so am excited to get started but i did need to brush up on my own techniques i mean i did some in my art gallery here and when i was in Blackpool and they were purchased by children ,men and women so they are great for everyone ,for your home,car,animals however i need to research more for our furry friends but my inner guidence says more gentle ones for pets ,oh and i bought some lovely boxs too gold with hearts on and aqua with hearts on and i have made my own tiny gift cards of the sea ,so when you want to gift a friend with a gift of the heart this is the gift for any friend ,nt only is it beautiful but the copper as accent is amazing and also has its many benefits and well gifting a gift that will assist another is the greatest gift to give from the heart .
Easdale Island Artist Appears On Channel 4 Our Tiny Islands
Our local artist, Lisa McQueenie has appeared on the second series of ‘Our Tiny Islands’ on More 4.
Lisa filmed over two days for her appearance, and her story resonated with many people wondering how Island life would work out for an artist who relocated from Blackpool, England.
Lisa works with locally washed up driftwood and seaglass as well as other beach treasure that she repurposes in her art. Lisa has a new line of model Easdale Island Cottages.
She has also created some sailing boats using driftwood and have been selling very well to people who have dropped by to visit her in her little shop and also here, online.
“I like to be inspired by my surroundings, and what better inspiration can an artist have than a west coast Scottish Island like Easdale!”
“The filming crew were so good to work with, and put me at ease almost straight away”, said Lisa who has lived on Easdale Island for over two and a half years now.
Lisa is from South Yorkshire, originally and had her family in Blackpool, Lancashire where she lived for over 30 years. The opportunity came up to relocate to Argyll and she jumped at the chance to take fresh artistic inspiration from a needed change in her life.
Lisa first discovered driftwood while on a walk in Blackpool, and the impact of what she could do with this treasure of the sea profoundly moved her.
She quickly got collecting, learned how to dry the driftwood effectively using only eco methods and got to work.
Several awards and appearances at International Art Festivals came her way and is now recognised as an International Artist and a leader in her field.
Lisa is at her most happiest when creating new art and pushing her boundaries to learn new techniques.
“Art is my solace and my friend and has been there for me at the darkest of times. Now I can enjoy the happiest of times and there are no limits to what direction my art can take me. I’m so grateful I went on that walk in Blackpool and was inspired by the driftwood I discovered.”

After 3 days of preparation and shooting footage, this is the result!!
Our Tiny Islands is a program shown on More 4 (Channel 4) and features the smallest Islands around the UK and the people who make their surroundings work for them and their communities around them.
Lisa McQueenie was approached with a strong interest in her art, and more importantly, the processes involved with her art and her collection of materials such as driftwood.
So, the dates were agreed, the site visit organised and the work began…
Richard and Jamie turned up on Easdale Island with their equipment and 2 days work began following Lisa McQueenie around Easdale Island talking about the Island, the treasures of the Island and the beautiful life that Lisa has made for herself.
There are scenes with Lisa collecting from the slate beaches, Lisa making her replica Easdale Island Cottages, and taking Richard and Jamie for a tour around the Island.

The drone footage of Easdale is beautiful and thankfully the weather held!!
At any time, Easdale Island usually has around 45-60 residents at anytime depending on the season. There are around 8 holiday homes on Easdale so the resident core population can be around 45.
There are no roads on the Island as Lisa points out when she explains the wheelbarrow park instead of car park!

Easdale Island First Book
Easdale Island First Book alot has happened since i wrote a book and well as i sit here in glorious sunshine on another island Crete ,yep actually all im doing is following a freedom with no real plan sometimes it works and well sometimes it works it never doesnt anyhoo my book .
After the last stint of me going away to Bulgaria i came back and made a start on my book our book our collective book ,divine timing at its best.
I gave myself one moth to write it seen as i had been messing about for 2 years with a book then puppet show then back again to book anyhoo you get my drift i was procrastinating and well your universe doesnt quite like that so i actually gave myself an intent to finish at end of April .
It actually was challenging could i pull it off ? you know the usual monkey brain however i knew enough not to allow this to stop my determination to create a book a read along book for children ,never in a million years would i have put this one on my life path but here it goes it ,its a beautiful story of a Rainbow Rooster who was feeling blue even though he was living on the most beautiful magical island there is .
I simply was guided by my heart to draw the pictures step by step to create all the pictures first then write the story of which i was assured it would be easy and flow from the heart of which suprisingly for me it did ,trust and faith in how it was to transpire ,i remeberred this was about keeping my own promise of intent to create a great story which i have come to realise plants lots of codes and heartfelt words to bring ones to a remberence of how wonderful nature makes you feel bridging the heart connection between parent and child the reader and writer the hearts of many connections combined through one story read in the hearts and minds of many .
Dolphin chatting to Rooster about how its easy to speak your Truth.
Its a story of a rooster who is feeling blue and meets 7 little creatures which represent the chakras through fun and animated expression of each wonderfully cute character ,its a great introduction in a fun way to bring parent and child who may not know what the chakras are and well plant a fun story surrounding it assisting growth education of the body and exploration of the mind body and spirit through the chakra system , as you can see my grandson just receiving his own little book and well hes was like” Nanny “.
My universe God self realised that this would be the basis of the foundation book for many other childrens book to come togather ,including lots of fun teashirts for children and adults reason being is well im still a child an innerchild addict of fun and joy and its certainly what lots of us require right now on our earthly experience fun, love, and joyfulness .

Joy
Joy creating the spark of joy back in our lives, so here on the island I have been branching out in bringing little workshops to put the spark back in a creative fun way, its aimed at all families really part of my own journey more recently is to heal the inner child part of me, and even though that’s deep inner work its great also to nurture the part of the inner child that loves joy in the heart.
I went to Manchester last year and collaborated with other artists in music, meditation, cacao ceremony, and creative art making sock puppets and an inspired wand a stick although mine is a McQueenie stick the artist’s idea was from an artist called Kate I met online than in person it inspires you to speak your truth, of which I have found that it is a playful way of speaking your truth, we have been in a world were we felt we had to hide our feelings or concerned about how another would take your way of speaking we are not responsible for how another reacts to us, so here we are with the truth stick or whatever it means for you, its a fun and creative way to express yourself,
The journey continues along with other courses that I will be developing and putting out there who knows even an online Zoom fun, as promised show amazing pictures of all the wonderful creations the children and parents made over the past few weeks.

Hi There welcome to my Turnstyle McQs Blog, chat natter about what I have been creating and what inspires me to create, most of the time it is inspiration from the heart, and let’s face it we all have a heart, and well it is too good not to share with your heart.
My Love in Life came from strolling on the beach back some 6 years ago in Blackpool at the time, I stumbled into it for good reason because immediately I picked it up and did lots of research to get where I am today, no one in there right mind will say it’s easy having a business especially one that’s created by you I have grown so much it’s an inside job first and foremost and shows on the outside of you.
I only now have a deeper understanding of life and value and worth and that all comes from you valuing yourself first knowing that you are born worthy how when I moved to Scotland I realized I felt guilty, yes guilty because I didn’t think I was worthy of living in such a beautiful place, let’s say the universe gave me some extra lessons to learn and while they were rather very uncomfortable I now know it was for me to have a greater appreciation of myself and to have real gratitude in all my life from my little white cottage, the scenery, my cute doggies, my lovely Adrian and his immense support for all I do.
So if you have a business always love and value and appreciate how far you have come and if not imagine you already doing it while taking action too.
Which kind of leads me to want to assist others further in life such as online courses assisting learning and looking after yourself as you Turnstyle your life too mainly art and well any heartfelt assistance in overcoming the lies you say about yourself me included.

Turnstyle McQs Easdale Island Gallery Scotland so it’s the new season here on Easdale Island so for the past few weeks i have been settling right back into the flow of creating and beachcombing because i know too well that nature assists me in feeling great and tip-top, it is how i started as you will see on my intro page here in my little online shop too.
so far i have created more driftwood creations including our beautiful visionary cottages which are inspired by living here on Easdale island, not only that I feel they inspire you visually to live your dream life through art by assisting to see your very own dream life in front of you everyday ,clever eh always new it at the start that these cuties would be inspirational for lovely souls who kindly purchase them ,not only that they invoke a beautiful fond memory of a moment in time and space were you stayed or even came for the day to Easdale island to see our enchanting magical island and full on surrounded by sea.

Easdale Island Catch Up
Oh, My daisies I hadn’t realized it’s been since January that I last blogged! oopsie.
So guess I will fill you in so let me think !!
Roxy daisy yes yes yes we got a dog a rescue one oh my days we got her in March and seriously this dog wants love she is love,so my proper beach buddy she past the test in the first week.
I did lots of inner growing and well it shows now hoooorah! so what’s been happening here at Turnstyle McQs well of course I reopened my art gallery which is in my little white cottage, I did quite a bit of sculptures through the early spring of this year, and I created more little white cottages as momentos which you can order in my online shop here.
I had 2 excursions with the safari here at Easdale, the wildlife sea tour, and a trip to Iona again which by the way both had my heart singing to near bursting!
we had Coal Day! which is bulk delivery of coal on the island then we set a day with our wheelbarrows all assisting in taking it to each cottage and the art exhibition here on the island same time and space.
A joy to see my daughter and grandson after a year with the moves from Blackpool to Oban then this island and settling here it’s been about 17 months now, and while there I had a door open I went to Manchester collaborating with other artists in a different form through art healing the heart in a day of Cacao ceremony, dance, creativity poetry, and an amazing hearty singer .more to come of this we are setting talks creating the new for a better world.
Now drum roll ……if you please hahaha…… I had a story intuitively received at my last abode to do as a story but I sat on it and since more recently it bubbled forth once more to make it as a puppet show, so I am currently on with my puppet show for children will say more about that in my next blog!
oh and forgot had a camera crew here 2 months ago to share with the world our beautiful Island and its magic and of course, the art gallery I believe Richard from Tern is in the final editing, I have to say I was nervous but also knew it was a great way of my own personal growth, Richard was a total pro and put me at ease straight away and well Matt I think the other man was called well we all had so much fun, joy, and laughter trying our hands at skimming stones seen as we have World Skimming Championships here which yes was on last weekend!
What else well I’m currently making my puppet show I am aiming for the end of October to get it done, it’s aimed at children but will chat more about that in my next blog vlog.
